DASAITE OF THE WEEK

Stage Voice: Hi, I am from Stage Voice. Can we meet you please?

Director Q: I'm Akanbi Qudus Olanshile omo iya shile by name A.K.A Director Q.

Stage Voice: Do you mind telling us your date of birth please?

Director Q: 16th of January of ma'am

Stage Voice: So Director Q, how has it been merging Studies and Practicals in the department?

Director Q: Sighs.. it's been complicated ma'am to be very honest, so far,  I've been active in most of the practicals but then I create time for my studies just as "one part must not be larger than the other" not in this case o, but then the little time have I study to the brink.

Stage Voice: Hmmm. Shanorrrrrrrrrr

Director Q: Lol....Okay on to the next

Stage Voice: What has been your best part of the Theatre so far?

Director Q: Hugh.. so far it has been acting, irrespective of the fact that I so much love directing but 70% of where I get to show my skills is in the acting area  so that's it. Representation and building of different characters, accents and the reflections in real life it has been amazing trust me.

Stage Voice: Hmmm. Didn't see that coming.

Director Q: Smiles... it's been my best, definitely not my improved area. Because I' love directing and I've been improving in that area, of course my Major though. Will definitely bring alot to visuals.

Stage Voice: So Director Q, what do you wish could be different about the Department?

Director Q: Eeei.. alot my dear, well somethings are better left unsaid. Nevertheless I'd the system to be different, having got some friends in other universities studying the same course you'd be forced to tell yourself the truth that they have got alot to learn from this theatrical process. Probably lots of opportunities out there too, well maybe if we can have more chance to prove ourselves more.

Stage Voice: So if you got a chance to go back and pick a school to study, will you pick OAU?

Director Q: OAU keh?.. Definitely not, the experience I've got is enough. It has been a dream school though but dey don try abeg.

Stage Voice: Wow! Okay ooo. So this out of the blue, but what do you think about the notion, "Boys don't cry".

Director Q: Hmm.. "Boys don't cry", okay I think it emerged from this African term that "a man should be the head of the family; and a man should face the struggles and the forces of the community". "Boys don't cry" will definitely be a slogan that men don't show their emotions, men hiding their pain to make things go well in the family, community or even relationships. Men are being deployed to war not women, with the backing of the Military martial law. United Nations protect Women and Children against havoc, where do you see the Men "Defending of course" and if you are doing that you can't let your emotions overrule you. So my dear "Boys don't cry".

Stage Voice: Wow! It looks like you saw this as a platform to pour out a long-held thought.

Director Q: Lol.. it's a question that you asked now and must be answered  ma'am

Stage Voice: Lol. Sorry for intruding, but are you Single, Searching or Ready to Mingle?

Director Q: I'm in the wind... lol. Actually I'm ready to mingle.. been single all along

Stage Voice: And may the Mingler find the Mingleeeee...

Director Q: They are always welcome milady...

Stage Voice: Lol... Who would you like to give a shout-out to?

Director Q: Yeah.. shout-out to every Dasaites out there, and to my Homies "La CONFLUENZA" and everyone who supports Q in what he does, shootout to trice and Iya Shile herself. I remain my humble self Director Q.

Stage Voice: Awww. Sadly we've come to the end of your interview. It was nice having you.
