DASAITE OF THE WEEK – FEMALE
Janet: Been good jare thanks
Stage Voice: Great, how has your experience been as a fresher of Dramatic Arts?
Janet: It has been fun, tedious and stressful. At first, I didn't like the way things were but later on I fell in love with the stress. I really love the initiation part, it wasn't easy but it really grinded me. So far Sha I'm loving it.
Stage Voice: What was your best part of the initiation process?
Janet: The overnights π₯°π₯°π₯°. For our set, overnight rehearsals weren't allowed but the coordinators had to do it secretly just for us to catch up on things and because of that the coordinators were kinda nice and very playful during this overnight rehearsals that we do. Although it was draining then, we use to look tattered and stressed, most of us even lost a lot of weight and we were not even eating well but the joy and gladness was there. Having rehearsals overnight was my best part of the initiation process because it established this kind of unity, togetherness among us all and also having each other's back at all time.
Stage Voice: Great to hear about the unity it created because that is one of purpose of this process. Can you describe your department in one sentence?
Janet: Ok, my department, dreamatic art is very big with averagely big theatre that we refer to as pit theatre, its a department thats always lively and never silent at any time of the day cos drama students are always busy with rehearsals day and night.
Stage Voice: That is so detailedπ, A enough about your department. Can you tell us about yourself ?
Janet: Ok. My name is Akinyoola Abimbola Janet. A student of OAU, department of dramatic arts.Part 1, I'm female. I'm 19 (will be 20 next month). My hobbies are reading and watching movies. I am a caring and loving person, i love to help people that deserve my help.
Stage Voice: Happy Birthday in Advanceππ. Do you have any skills you do?
Janet: I am good at making hair. I also know how to act though still learning thats why im here in this department.
Stage Voice: That is great, Did you always want to study dramatic arts before now ?
Janet: Not really cos anytime i mention it my mum will always tell me the odds of it so that discouraged me from studying it but when i wrote my jamb I changed.
Stage Voice: So when did you discover Dramatic Arts in the department for you?
Janet: I was told to choose mass communication even though i don't like the course I chose it but when my waec result came out, i didn't have maths and economics. I had to change to an art course but I didn't like any of the art courses except dramatic arts. My mum and other family said i should go for law since i had a good jamb and waec scores but i felt i don't belong there. I was adamant on changing to drama and here I am.
Stage Voice: Very inspiring, I wish people could be as brave you in choosing what they want to study . If you had the privilege to go back to your younger self, what decision did you make, then you would change?
Janet: There's this business i started when i was in ss2, its a chocolate business. It really helped me then in school like i never ask money from my parent except for school fees but when i finished I stopped which wass the greatest mistake i think I've ever done, now i can't start all over again cos as i dey collect from dad i dey spend am so no money to start again. It might sound funny actually but if could go back in time i wouldn't have made a decision to stop and spend all my money and savings.
Stage Voice: It is not too late dear, you can still start the business π, it is so wonderful talking to you. At this point, I will say we have come to an end .
Janet: There's no money oo and the chocolate don turn gold for market. Nice talking to you too.
