FYB OF THE WEEK – MALE
Walter: My name is Mgbeoji Chimobi Walter. Can you be more specific of what you want to know about me?
Stage Voice: Everything you can share about yourself.
Walter: My name is Mgbeoji Chimobi Walter and I'm from Imo state, Nigeria. But I was born and raised in Ijebu-ode, Ogun state. I am proudly October's very Own, 10/10 is the date.
I appear really quiet in public but can get really crazy in comfort zones. I love good music, hip hop rap to be precise and hope that someday I'll make good music myself. Also, I chose to study Dramatic Arts underestimating how difficult it could be, but now I have learnt my lesson as an FYB. I major in acting and speech and I am enjoying it. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜.
I don't like being disrespected and that is why I try as much as I can to respect myself and others.
I'm friends with many people but you'll mostly see me with Samuel, Chris, Pedro, Kode, Russet and Dayo.
Stage Voice: Wow, this is so detailed. How has the experience been so far as an FYB?
Walter: It's been very stressful like...My personal life is currently upside down right now cause I don't have time for myself anymore.
Stage Voice: Pele, it will be over soon. What was the most challenging role or roles you acted in Pit Theatre ?
Walter: It will be Sanda in 'Beatification of Areas Boys' by Wole Soyinka. It was our initiation play.
Stage Voice: What was challenging about the role?
Walter: I'd never gone on stage before in my life. My lines were lengthy and I was bad at memorizing. It was a socio-political satire and it seemed too technical for an initiation play.
Stage Voice: How were you able to overcome the challenge?
Walter: If there's one thing I've learned in the department. It's the fact that people reach their potentials faster under pressure. I had no choice, either I carried my lines or I disgraced myself on stage. 😂😂.
Stage Voice: 😂😂😂How has the experience been from then still now?
Walter: There's been a lot of improvement when compared to how I started.
Stage Voice: Can you say initiation is very important for Dramatic Arts Students' development?
Walter: Mehnnnnn, Everything I learnt in Dramatic Arts I learnt from initiation. So yes! It's very important. You miss out on it, you become clueless on a lot of things.
Stage Voice: Dasaites, I hope you are hearing this now oooo… So what is your plan after graduation?
Walter: Hmmm… Further my education, get a good job and get married.
Stage Voice: Do you plan to major in stage acting or screen acting?
Walter: Screen acting.
Stage Voice: What is your take on stage production as a profession?
Walter: Honestly, stage production would have been a very good profession for me only if it drew more audience and income as much screen productions do. But if one's passion is not driving by financial gain then stage production is an awesome profession.
Stage Voice: Thank you so much for your time. It is very inspiring having you. 😊
Walter: Thanks for interviewing.
