ARTIST OF THE WEEK
Ayomide : Hi good evening
Stage Voice : This is stage voice, can we meet you?
Ayomide : I am Egunjobi Ayomide aka LAYHON, a part 2 student of dramatic arts OAU
Stage Voice : Okrr
Stage Voice : Why music?, What inspired inspired it?
Ayomide : Well it’s been long I can’t even remember. I didn’t just know how to go about it until 2020 when my best friend influenced me and took me to a studio. That was when I had my first real lines in a record titled PROMISE
Stage Voice : Awwwn.. Bestie goals
Ayomide : Well here I am today, really happy about the path I choose
Stage Voice : Go boy>>>
Stage Voice : Do you enjoy live music
Ayomide : I have not tried any but I love it and I love watching too anyway and I am working on it already
Stage Voice : Oh.. That's cool
Stage Voice : How would you describe the music you make?
Ayomide : The type of music I make is Afrobeats and it’s a style I am very comfortable with helping me in choosing my lyrics carefully
Stage Voice : Okayyyyyyy.. That's pretty cool.
Stage Voice : Can you play any musical instrument
Ayomide : Yesssssss I can play the piano very well and I love and wish to learn the guitar too
Stage Voice : Hmm.. Niceee
Stage Voice : So is there any girl somewhere behind all the music thingπ
Ayomide : Nope. But there is one woman and she’s my mum. She showed much love and support when I released VIBES and she also motivated me to keep it up
Stage Voice ,: Hmmmmmm...okayyyyyyyy
Stage Voice : What is your creative process like?
Ayomide : Not stressful at all based on the fact that I nurtured the passion for music in me so I write down anytime something pops up and pull it together whenever I am with a producer. Listening to free beats helps
Stage Voice : Okay
Stage Voice : Your favorite band
Ayomide : The Banjos, Simisola’s band
Stage Voice : Your favorite singer
Ayomide : Omoo right now it’s Asake mr money. Any where I hear his music I always feel alive
Stage Voice : Ololade mi Asakeπ
Stage Voice : What would you say is your greatest strength as an artist
Ayomide : Whenever I get to speak with big artist I look up too both on campus and outside campus. It is really inspiring and gives strength to keep going
Stage Voice : That's cool
Stage Voice : Any musician who inspires you.. Like role model
Ayomide : Yes Fireboy. I love his style and I listen to every single record he drops. I feel like writing mostly when I hear or listen to something from Fireboy
Stage Voice : Great
Stage Voice : So how do you cope with your music, department and other stuff.. How do you manage them together
Ayomide : Well the fact is that if you have passion for something, there will always be time so it’s pretty easy to cope with both music and the department at the same time giving that I don’t have to always be at the studio every time. One thing before the other and we go dey alright
Stage Voice : So you've released two songs right... How has it been like... The promotion and stuff
Ayomide : Omoo big thanks to Feran pr. He listened to my first record Promise and released it August last year. Promotions mad and widely heard all over the world. Then promotions came out mad for vibes having over 1k streams on Spotify, 3k on Audiomack, 1k on Applemusic... 13k overall streaming platform
