THE TITLE CHANGER BY ODUFESO OLAJUMOKE
"Push!"
The wicked nurse slaps your thigh as you couldn't help but release a groan.
You were tired, so exhausted, your lungs are failing, your body can no longer go any more.
Three days of painful labour.
"God have mercy." you sniffed in those tears blinding your vision.
"Can I see my husband?" You asked with your legs turning jelly already.
"No other person is allowed into the delivery room," the mean nurse who slapped your thigh replied.
"Please you face the head nurse"
"Call him in" she faces the other nurse.
Baami came in trying to look all strong and okay, but God knows he wants to pull you out of that stress you are in.
"I can't do this anymore" you tell him as your body turns more weak.
"Please dear, for the sake of everyone's contribution during your pregnancy, shanu mi, we suffered before this pregnancy could stand" he said.
You sniffed in and pushed with all your strength, yet nothing is coming and your body keeps failing me.
"You can do it sweetie, " Father encourages you.
"God please remember the promise you made to me concerning this baby, lord save my child" you push one more with every of your might.
The Mother's POV
"Amazing, the head is out!" The head nurse giggled with encouragement.
"Yes! Now I am never stopping till I push this baby out of my belly" I pushed again as I felt the baby swimming out of me.
I screamed loudly with all my might as I felt something mighty out of me.
"Yes, you have done it!" My husband pecks my forehead happily.
"But why is the baby not crying? Master Jesus, complete your work." I prayed silently as I was weak to move or talk.
I see the head nurse slapping the baby's tiny buttocks. After several attempts the baby burst into a fit of tears, I burst into tears as I heard the nurse say: " Congratulations, it's a girl".
I woke up finally to see my mother in law arranging my food on the shelf.
"Welcome back, I will call the nurse, first you have to eat".
I ate as the nurse examined me, and my baby was handed to me after the meal. I was taught how to hold her when breastfeeding her as I felt so much love for her as she sucked out her meal.
Yes, my title was changed from woman to mother.

Well written Jummy. It's so touching 😢.
