FYB OF THE WEEK
Stage Voice: Hi. I'm from Stage Voice. Can we meet you please?
Gbotemi: Helloo. I'm Ayeni Gbotemi
Stage Voice: Do you mind telling us your date of birth?
Gbotemi: June 27th
Stage Voice: Sooo. How has it been handling the position of the President of the Association?
Gbotemi: Hmm... well I have only just started. Quite demanding, but have got the best team @TeamAchievers and I trust God to help me.
Stage Voice: Amen. So why Directing?
Gbotemi: Being able to envisage something and properly actualize it on stage or camera can not be overemphasized. It just doesn't happen suddenly, it's a gradual process of learning and experience. And the journey has only just begun for me.
Stage Voice:Hmmmm.... We were tempted to major in any other part of the Theatre before now?
Gbotemi: Yes, I planned to major in acting, even up to the point of my course registration.
Stage Voice: Lol...So what changed?
Gbotemi: Well... for me acting is a comfort zone, doesn't mean I still don't have a lot to learn, besides I am still learning. But then someone called me a coward and asked ...why am I going easy on myself? So this is me stretching myself to see how far I can go.
Stage Voice: Hmmm. That's tough though. Okay, if you were given a chance to go back in time and pick a school to study, would you choose OAU?
Gbotemi: I've met a lot of amazing human beings here and also some nice experiences. So, I don't regret coming here but if an opportunity to school abroad presents itself to me back then, I did definitely hop on that.
Stage Voice: So who's the best person you have worked with in the department so far
Gbotemi: Lol....Shey I have bai...Doesn't mean I didn't enjoy working with all those have worked with. I just don't do this best thing.
Stage Voice: Lmao.... Okay what about your best course/class so far?
Gbotemi: Lol Error....maybe 307 sha, although the stress in it na diiee
Stage Voice: Lol ...Best lecturer so far?
Gbotemi: They are all great people
Stage Voice: So this is out of the blue but do you believe agree that Lagos State is the "dream land" for upcoming actors?
Gbotemi: Dream land? I don't think so. I think the issue is that the actors we have labeled 'successful' if not all, most of them are resident in Lagos, which also makes most shooting locations happen in Lagos. Which makes it a land of 'more opportunities' and not a 'dream land'. ...Well my take sha.
Stage Voice: So are you Single, Searching or ready to mingle?
Gbotemi: Eweee, I'm not single but I'm still available for pampering _#sipswine_ ️
Stage Voice: Lmaoooo... Okay _we'll jot that down_. If you get the chance to somehow meet your 12year old self again, what advice would you give her?
Gbotemi: Hmmmm... 'Lean not on your own understanding'. If I realized that early enough, I would have made better decisions in some areas. But still, lessons learnt and I'm still growing
Stage Voice: I believe we all are. Who would you like to give a shout-out to?
Gbotemi: Shout out to La'Confluenza and dasites at large, to Mr Fakeye and Dr Bakare. And special shout out to DASA Excos, 2022.
Stage Voice: It was really nice chatting with you here. Thank you for your time.
Gbotemi: Thank you too, it was a great time for me too.
