DASA ALUMNI OF THE WEEK
Stage Voice: Hi this is Stage Voice, can you please tell us your name?
Olamide: Hello, Stage Voice
I'm Olamide Ajibola Kabir by name
Stage Voice: It's nice meeting you, Olamide.
Stage Voice: Please, tell us where you are from and where you currently reside?
Olamide: The pleasure is mine. I'm from Oyo State. Currently, I reside in Osun state, Osogbo to be specific
Stage Voice: That's great. So being a graduate, how has the outside world been? Tough? Soft?
Olamide: Being a graduate is definitely not for the weak😂 so far, the outside world has proven to be bitter-sweet.
Stage Voice: Chopping it left and right. We kuku get 😌😌
Olamide: One time, you it have all going so smoothly that you would almost forget it was ever tough, another, it will just come with all shades of shege😂 However, God has remained faithful.l
Stage Voice: That's when you remember that indeed our parents are trying 😂
Olamide: My dear! Now, I respect them more😂
Stage Voice: You just have to 😂😂 God will always be faithful, just remember that!
Olamide: 💯
Stage Voice: So what did you major in and why majored in it?
Olamide: I was an Acting major. Why? For me, interest in whatever I choose to do is key. Acting happens to be one aspect of theater that interests me a lot, that's it
Stage Voice: That's great. So was there any position you occupied in DASA?
Olamide: Yes. I was a Stage Voice ambassador and a Vice-president.
Stage Voice: Wow I never knew that. That's awesome. So why did you go for it? Was there anything you wanted to change?
Olamide: This question 😂 First of all , I had the best VP and right before I decided to go for it, there was no female VP in DASA, if I'm not wrong so. One... I thought to write some history and just like my VP did, I wanted to give the new intakes my best and more.
Stage Voice: That's awesome. You really did try your best. So how did you feel when you graduated?
Olamide: Great, I must say. Fulfilled, actually
Stage Voice: So while on campus, did you have a side hustle or you were focused on being the SOYINKA while you were an undergraduate?
Olamide: 😂😂😂 What's with the SOYINKA though 😂😂
Stage Voice: 😂😂
Olamide: I had side hustles oo
Stage Voice: That's great. How did you juggle academics with your side hustles?
Olamide: I think one thing I choose never to forget was my primary assignment in OAU. My hustles came afterwards
Olamide: And if at all the hustles had to eat into the main, I do not play with my leisure time. I used that o balance things up
Stage Voice: I love the fact that you said you did not forget your primary assignment on OAU campus. So let's leave work now… Were you involved in a relationship during your undergraduate days?
Olamide: Stage voice really wants to pry😂
Stage Voice: No not at all 😂 We are driving somewhere
Olamide: Alright Yes, I was
Stage Voice: Hmmm... We go love oo… So do you feel dating does affect academics? or it's otherwise? What's your standpoint?
Olamide: It affects it if only if you want it to. Being in love shouldn't make you insane 🤷♀️ Love has its place, academics has its place, there should be no clash
Stage Voice: "Being in love shouldn't make you insane."
Stage Voice: Make I use this quote hold body. That's a lot of sense here.
Stage Voice: So considering the countless number of unemployed graduates, do you think going to school is a panacea to poverty?
Olamide: Saying this is definitely hyperbolic because it's not. Some actually just go but don't learn. It's not just about your discipline. As a matter of fact, Nigerian economy is a respecter of no discipline
Olamide: For me, it is… "be actually enlightened", "Gain experience and connect with the right set of people” I hope I answered the question?
Stage Voice: You did answer the question brilliantly.
Stage Voice: So Olamide, if you were placed on a scholarship, given 2 million naira, a free accomodation, and had a lot of foodstuffs, would you choose to further your education in OAU?
Olamide: 😂😂😂😂 you don put me for corner ooo
Stage Voice: 😂
Olamide: Scholarship where and to do what?
Stage Voice: Can be a scholarship from a private organization or government to pursue masters in an area probably related to theatre
Olamide: My dear! There's definitely no way I'll go back to OAU
Stage Voice: Even with the money and other benefits attached?
Olamide: Oh… That's it? I misinterpreted the question
Olamide: Of course I will, if it's the best of my options.
Stage Voice: Olamide and soft life
Olamide: 😂😂😂😂
Stage Voice: 😂 So any advice for drama students?
Olamide: Let's see🤔 Do what you ought to when you ought to, e get why 😂
Stage Voice: Could you please explain more ?
Olamide: Simple! Trust God. Trust the process and do not procrastinate, for no reason whatsoever.
Stage Voice: Thank youu. Lastly, who do you want to give your shout-out to?
Olamide: My babies (Sui Generis)
Rayo, Ogunleti, my friends in Grandeza, Ademide, Team GAA, my babies in Luminous. I love y'all and can't wait to see you at the top
Stage Voice: We love you toooo Olamide. We all missed you. We have come to the end of the interview, thanks for acknowledging our Invitation.
Olamide: Thanks, Stage voice. It's an honour to be remembered.
