FYB OF THE WEEK – FEMALE

Stage Voice: Hi, Please can I get to know you?

Tunmininu: I'm Toluwanimi Tumininu. You can call me Tumi. I'm in 400L, a Directing major.

Stage Voice: Can you please share your experience as a Dramatic Arts student?

Tunmininu: Balancing Theory aspect and Practical aspect was a tough one to sort out at first. Carrying out duties of a rep too was challenging from the beginning and joining business with school too. Man must chop.

Stage Voice: Can you tell us about your business?

Tunmininu: I'm a Makeup Artist. MaziqueenBeauty😁

Stage Voice: Wow, how have you been able to juggle the two together?

Tunmininu: Lol, I can't explain it but I know God increased my strength.

Stage Voice: God is always there for us. Can you tell us more about your business?

Tunmininu: I'm a beauty artist, and my brand is Maziqueen Beauty. I officially launched it two years ago. You can find me on Instagram under my brand's handle. My focus is primarily on home services, and guess what? I keep it budget-friendly! Makeup, for me, is more than just work; it's a hobby I genuinely enjoy anytime.

Stage Voice: DASAITES. Hope you are noting her brand name, and she is budget friendly ooh, come and let Maziqueen beautify you. You said you are a directing student. Can you tell us your reason for picking Directing as a major?

Tunmininu: Directing holds both challenges and excitement for me, and I find it to be the specialization that aligns best with my skills. I believe this connection stems from the dedication I've put into it since my early days in part 1.

Stage Voice: Inspiring, Pls can you share more light on your last sentence.

Tunmininu: I had the privilege of working under esteemed directors from Part 1 to Part 3, serving as both a Stage Manager and Assistant Director. These notable directors include Akanji, Adeyemi, PJOSH, Ebiesuwa, and Dare Jude. It was not easy working with them though. It took a whole lot of energy.

Stage Voice: These are notable directors that have passed through Dramatic Arts. How was the learning process for you?

Tunmininu: It was tough o. Honestly, it wasn't an easy one. The drilling and corrections but it was all for the best.

Stage Voice: Can you tell us about your experience working with actors in pit theatre?

Tunmininu: Actors… They can be funny and unpredictable, especially with this new Gen Z thingy. Drilling to them looks like a severe punishment.  Dare Jude once told me that “Choose actors that are available not pit theatre stars”.

Stage Voice: Word to mediate on, how has it been for you since you started you mini project?

Tunmininu: It has been less tough because I have the best cast and crew honestly. They ease off the burden of a “pit theatre director”.

Stage Voice: Awww, what is your take on the film Directing and Stage Directing?

Tunmininu: Stage directing is fulfilling, but the financial rewards can be limited. The new hot cake is film directing. For more updates, just ask Dr. Bakare.

Stage Voice: Lol, It was really a great time with you here on Stage Voice.

Tunmininu: 🤩
