DASAITE OF THE WEEK

Stage Voice: Hii, Can you please tell us about yourself?

Bunmi: I'm Bamgbose Oluwabunmi. I'm a part 3 student of the department, even though I came in as a direct entry student.

Stage Voice: Can you tell us your experience since you joined?

Bunmi: Hmmm, so far my eyes have seen shege from lecturers and even course mates. Have actually been in this department for a long while and they have been kinda interesting and terrible in its own way but I believe that's what makes it a Dramatic Arts department, you just have to go through one stress or the other.

Stage Voice: Pele, can you please explain what you mean by you have been in this department for a long time?

Bunmi: Actually, I did a 2-year diploma program in this department before coming in back as a degree student.

Stage Voice: Wow, can you tell us about the challenge you faced as a diploma student?

Bunmi: There was no serious challenge than the segregation shown towards us by those degree students as if they are sound academically than us not knowing that having a degree in OAU is by luck. Another is the fee, it was actually very huge to deal with but God was faithful.

Stage Voice: He is always faithful. Can you tell us about your induction process?

Bunmi: Omo… I almost gave up along the way... I knew how it used to be in the past because I joined some sets who weren't my class set then for few weeks and gave up since it was beautifully clashing with my classes and I couldn't cope easily. So when I joined last year set again. I made up my mind to undergone every stress involved in it without thinking of it. I tried every of my best not to falter in any way so I won't have to pass through the  rigorous processes again so I let go of the way our coordinators treated us and got the value they were imbibing in us because of these I enjoyed every bits of it except the jogging without footwear aspects.

Stage Voice: Can you say the induction process is very helpful on the long run and why?

Bunmi: Definitely, you get to bring out the best in yourself, the energy you never knew you had will burst out in its glory showing you that you can do more in terms of all the theatrical aspects of theatre. Take for instance,  you might think it's only acting you are good at but induction give you the privilege to try other aspects and eventually you get to see yourself doing very well in dances or other aspects also.

Stage Voice: Wow 👌, Can you tell us about your part 2 experience?

Bunmi: There was no much experiences than the classes, frequent rehearsals involved and having to do all that with new faces and all so it wasn't so bad.

Stage Voice: What are the things you can say you learnt from them?

Bunmi: I learnt how to be diligent and active at work because those I worked with had that iota of diligence in them when it comes to work so why should I slack on that? I also learnt to be on the lookout for others especially those that have been active from day 1 all of a sudden weren’t anymore. That way it shows the love involved amongst us as dramatists.

Stage Voice: That is great and inspiring to hear. Can you tell us more about yourself?

Bunmi: I am a native of Ogun state, second child of a family of five, had my primary and secondary school both in Ogun state and Lagos state respectively, I’m down to earth, relatable and easy to comprehend.

Stage Voice: Can you tell us your insight on the participation of DASA involvement in production.

Bunmi: I really don't understand this, can you rephrase it please?

Stage Voice: What is your insight on DASAITES participation in DASA Activities?

Bunmi: There is a saying that says 'We rise by lifting others', so joining others’ production isn't just for their own benefit but ourselves too and it's good to show love to one another by helping them out with their productions even if it's not so easy for us. When your time comes, you won't have to struggle to get them to help you, it will come naturally, they will definitely rally around you to help you.

Stage Voice: Dasaites, I hope you are hearing Ooh help others so you can be helped when needed. It was really nice having you 😊.

Bunmi: Thank you for having me then
