DASA ENTREPRENEUR OF THE WEEK
Stage Voice: Hello. Good to have you here. From Stage Voice. Can you please properly introduce yourself?
Deromola: My name is Ojedokun Aderomola Opeyemi. Most people call me Dero.
Stage Voice: Nice to have you here, Dero.
Stage Voice: Can you tell us a little more about yourself especially your life outside school?
Deromola: Thank you. Dero is a part 3 student in OAU, Dramatic Arts. I work full-time as a Make-up Artist and also an SFX artist. I don't only work for clients who want to enhance their looks, but also for actors on set.
Stage Voice: Wow. That sounds fancy.
Stage Voice: Anyone that wants to learn from Mrs Ogundeji’s class can definitely come to you.
Deromola: Lol... I feel flattered. To add to that, I don't see myself as a know it all. If there's one thing I do well it is to KEEP LEARNING.
Stage Voice: Yesss. Words of Wisdom. KEEP LEARNING.
Deromola: Never Stop.
Stage Voice: What made you choose makeup and SFX. Did the department influence your passion for it?
Deromola: I was already working full-time as a MakeUp Artist before I gained admission. The love for the Art made me to give SFX a chance. The department in a way just made to stick to the SFX part more.
Stage Voice: That’s really cool. So we are all sure of what you would major in then.
Deromola: Lol. You can't be too sure.
Stage Voice: We will all soon find out π
Deromola: Lol.
Stage Voice: How has your work as an artist changed your way of viewing business? It must not be easy balancing work and school together
Deromola: Balance is one thing you must get right if you want to combine business with school. It won't be easy but you just have to get it right. To add to that, the economy itself is a jungle.
Stage Voice: Balance really is key as a business owner. Are they any challenges you face with costumers?
Deromola: Yes, sure. It's a normal thing as an entrepreneur. I mean you deal with different people with different personalities. As an entrepreneur, know people are different and know peace.
Stage Voice: Can you give me an example of your experience?
Deromola: Sure. So I once had an experience with a client who booked for her birthday glam and it was home service. I got to her apartment only to realize that she was the bride. I felt cheated and sad. I had no choice. I did the job but I also gave her a piece of my mind.
Stage Voice: She paid for birthday glam for a bridal make up? That’s wickedness ππ how did you handle it?
Deromola: Yes, she did. Crazy right! That's one of the hazards of this job.
Stage Voice: Wow… so who do you look up to?
Deromola: My best interpretation of this question is, where do l draw my inspiration, source and energy from and the simple answer is GOD! Trust me in this industry not all that glitter is gold.
Stage Voice: Hmmm. You are the first person to give that answer. God above all as the saying goes
Deromola: Yess!!
Stage Voice: My last question
Deromola: Let's have it.
Stage Voice: ππ Yes. So what are your thoughts on LGBTQ being legal in Nigeria?
Deromola: Wawu, I sure wasn't expecting this question. LGBTQ or whatever is an End Time Fling. You think you were born different but you are not, you think you've got your right and opinions, but it’s all a FaΓ§ade. To add to that, God frowns at it!
Stage Voice: Hmmm. something to think about.
Stage Voice: Thank you so much for you time.
Deromola: Thank you for having me.
Stage Voice: It’s was a pleasure having you here.
Deromola: Same here.
Stage Voice: That will be the end of the interview.
