DASAITE OF THE WEEK

Stage Voice: Hi, I am from Stage Voice. Can we get to know you please?

Vickabi: I am Victor Akinola. We can always start from there.

Stage Voice: Victor Akinola... Such a nice name..  Can you tell us more about yourself? Like your level, your state of origin and the like.

Vickabi: It is a good thing that you want to know more about me. However, I myself must acknowledge that I haven't yet known more about myself. The word more is demanding isn't? And I have now yet demanded "more" from myself. I am a 300 Level Student of Dramatic Arts in Obafemi Awolowo University.Oyo State is my State of Origin.

Stage Voice: Oyo state... That's great The Amala people😌😌😌

VicKabi: And as regards the "likes": one could be that, essentially, I am Christian (Bible Believing) who can do nothing except by the Divine Help of GOD, my AUTHOR.

Stage Voice: God is our helper πŸ™

VicKabi: Amen... What do you mean by "the Amala people"? Common! πŸ˜„That is a narrow stereotype. Just call a part of the Yoruba people. And Amala is a food peculiar to the Yorubas. There you go!

Stage Voice: I see πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚: Anyway, it's nice meeting this personality So as a DASAITE, what was your first impression about the department?

Vickabi: Strange. Totally Strange. And defiling. And I responded to that with questions. One was – "How did I get here?" Another was – "What is the meaning of this?" Or "What I am supposed to be doing here?"

Stage Voice: So many Wh-questions πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…: We hope you have found answers to those questions?

Vickabi: Yes!  It took me 2 academic years to come to the grasp of the correct answer. It was frustrating, displacing, strict. But I was likewise full of innocence and that help me to be patient, and thus was forced to be open-minded for answers.  It is a relief to find answers. And to be found by answers.

Stage Voice: Alright.. That's good to know, Vickabi πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡ So you were part of the coordinators in this year's initiation... Can you please share your experience? How was it?

Vickabi: Ah, yes!  I was interviewed and selected to be the Stage Manager for Play and that was how it began... it  began with an undefined interest, an anticipation for work and duty. There, it occurred to me that to be a  coordinator for the induction process, I must first be coordinated by a higher ideal of discipline and a sense of responsibility. Supposedly, those are what it takes to begin. And I was on my way to figure those out all through the early stage of the induction process.

When the induction process became cumbersome with more duties, I almost lost myself to it. I was meant to carry it as one of my responsibilities but it tended to carry me as it's own responsibility. That is when you lose yourself to it. At this, all other aspects of your life could degrade like a room of treasure that has been raided by unrepentant burglars – so that by the time you finish the whole induction process, you will find it hard to be relevant in other responsibilities. I almost got lost. But thankfully, by GOD, I lost the "getting lost" and found a redefinition of responsibility and priorities.

Stage Voice: So what have you noticed in the department that needs change?

Vickabi: A lot of things.

First, the people that make up the department. I mean, all of us.

If there would be a change, it must first be from all of us. It starts from me, you and everyone else.

Vickabi: In this regard, I mean change in our approach and mindset to the businesses (academic, practical, and all) in department. There's a sense of mediocrity that keeps limiting our achievements.

We must be on a higher level of advancement and innovation towards in our businesses here in the department. It takes a lot but it's easily achievable with the common mindset of excellence.

It's unfortunate and tragic that this statement is more  like a trashed anthem when it should be a conviction towards transformation into what is durably excellent and problem solving.

Stage Voice: Alright, what do you think about the student's administration?

Vickabi: I think it's a student's administration that wants to keep up with a standard that is not supported by the people under it's administrationi. And probably because the administrators are students too, they are likewise not supporting themselves effectively in the offices. That could also be the rub...

Stage Voice: Alright

Vickabi: To make this conclusion is difficult. Let's wait until the proper moments of reckoning.

But I think they have been trying. I think they have been trying...

Stage Voice: They have been trying... It's not easy πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡

Vickabi: Yes! It's not easy. We must always pray for our administrators. That's a way to support.

Stage Voice: We've come to the end of the interview, but before we end it, who would you like to give your shout-out to?

Vickabi: It doesn't seem proper to shout-out at this moment. It's night and people are trying to sleep. I wouldn't want to disturb them with the "shout-outs".

And if I was watching the world cup at this moment, I can only shout-out when there's a goal.

But I could "shout-out", in the context of Adoring my GOD. A joyful noise, this time around...

Psalms 100:1-5

( _A Psalm of Praise._ )

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Stage Voice: Pastor VicKabi! Thank you!
