FYB OF THE WEEK
Stage Voice: Hi. I'm from Stage Voice. Can we meet you please?
Beatrice: My name is Omotolani Beatrice Olabode
Stage Voice: Do you mind sharing your date of birth?
Beatrice: Of course not. This beautiful human was born on the 7th of July 1997
Stage Voice: It's plenri. So tell us, how has it been from your 100level days till now
Beatrice: Well...100level was fun.I learnt all the bad and good stuff I needed to navigate through my life in the university. 200level was boring mehn and stressful mehn. Got my heart broken and stuff. Part 3 I was just so indifferent about stuff. I don’t know what part 4 is going to look like though
Stage Voice: It will turn out fine. We're sure of that. So what are your plans after school?
Beatrice: I hope so too. My plans after school is to serve, get my masters done and join the army. I don’t really see myself going into the entertainment industry anymore. It’s so messy out there
Stage Voice: Wow! Army? I really didn't see that coming. What's your motivation?
Beatrice: I used to live with my grandmother (may her soul rest In peace) she was and is still my motivation. I was a very strong and stubborn kid but also purposive. I climbed trees to ease boredom and I’m always involved in anything that involves using my muscles. She would say “you should be a soldier when you grow up because all of these strength shows how much of a powerful person you can be” and besides I love the armed forces. Especially the army. It’s always been my dream too.But there was a time I lost track of that dream...you know, I wanted to become a superstar ..lol. Mehnnnn...Now I want to be a superstar soldier
Stage Voice: Lmaoooo.... Okay then. What's your major?
Beatrice: I’m an Acting major. I wanted technical though but I want to challenge myself Technical is something I’m good at but not acting..I figured I could learn new things
Stage Voice: Hmm... It seems to us like you love challenges.
Beatrice: Affirmative
Stage Voice: Okayyy... Who was the best person you had worked with during your stay here?
Beatrice: Dare Jude! He’s good at what he does and he’s one of the few people who inspires me to be whatever I think I can be.
Stage Voice: Awwww...and who do you wish you had worked with?
Beatrice: Peter Joshua. He’s now a graduate but I wish I had worked extensively with him while he was still here. That man is a genius.
Stage Voice: Okay this is out of the blue but what do you think about "Legalizing Abortion" in Nigeria?
Beatrice: Mehn...I’m going to be very honest here. I feel it’s something that should have been in our system long ago. It’s being criminalized and that’s why most women turn to unsafe methods. If you look at it closely, The extremely high number of abortions indicates that criminalization has little or no effect on a woman’s decision to have one. Likewise, if what we’re seeking is to protect the fetus, criminalization has never been effective in this regard. Protection can be achieved through public policy that is also consistent with women’s rights, such as comprehensive health services that include pre-abortion counseling. Highly restrictive abortion laws do not result in lower rates of abortion. Legalizing it will do more good than harms if you ask me
Stage Voice: Wow!... Looks like you have a lot to get off your chest.
Beatrice: If I had my way. I wouldn’t mind opening an abortion clinic
Stage Voice: Hmm.... This is of course an open-ended topic. We could talk about it all day. If you had a chance to go back in time and pick a school to study, would you still pick OAU?
Beatrice: Nah! Never! I would have pestered my parents to let me study abroad. OAU is one of my biggest regrets in life. But it’s a great place to be though. I love my life here but if I had known much about Nigerian universities before entering any. I wouldn’t even choose a private university.
Stage Voice: Haaa! Comrade this is serious. Sorry for intruding but are you Single, Searching or Ready to Mingle?
Beatrice: I’m in a very healthy relationship
Stage Voice: Osheyyyyy... Comrade show us the way na. What's your opinion about Valentine's day?
Beatrice: It’s a day that has been set aside to spread love so I feel we should all love it. And besides there’s gonna be gifts everywhere so even if I don’t get any. My friends will and that’s a win-win. Their gifts are for us.
Stage Voice: Lmaoooo... Definitely. So who would you like to give a shout-out to?
Beatrice: My mum. I want to say “you have to grow old with me no matter what”
Stage Voice: Awwww. Sadly we've come to the end of your interview. We wish you success ahead.
Beatrice: Thank you so much dear.I wish you luck
