DASA ENTREPRENEUR OF THE WEEK

Stage Voice: Hi! Good evening, I'm from Stage Voice.

Olaoluwa: Good evening, it's nice to have you here.

Stage Voice: Please, can you introduce yourself?

Olaoluwa: Ok, my name is Olaoluwa Ogunniyi. A part 2 student of the Department of Dramatic Arts.

Stage Voice: That's nice... Do you mind if we interview you as our DASA Entrepreneur of the week?

Olaoluwa: No problem. I don't mind.

Stage Voice: Thank you... So Olaoluwa, what other thing do you apart from theatre activities?

Olaoluwa: I'm a content creator, a YouTuber and a photographer. In summary, I'm a multi faceted creative. Lol

Stage Voice: Hmmm... embodiment of creativity

Olaoluwa: How am I meant to react to this? [Laughing.]

Thank you😍

Stage Voice: [Smiling.] Anyhow you want, boss.

So as a content creator and Youtuber, what's your brand name?

Olaoluwa: Hsolaolu on all platforms.

Stage Voice: Hmmm Hsolaolu.... what inspired the name?

Olaoluwa: Lol. It's something I don't want to share yet now due to some reasons.

Stage Voice: Kopoke...  Anyway, no problem. So tell us how you manage school with business?

Olaoluwa: Hmmn. This question really...hmmn again.

Let me say it's been God really because this department is not for the weak and balancing it with stuffs outside school is really tasking but what I can say is helping me is setting boundaries and priorities.

For now, I'm not really active in stage productions and all and soon I'll be again. Knowing what comes with each season is really key.

Stage Voice: Hmmm... the last statement: knowing what comes with each session is really key. That's great

Stage Voice: So when did you start  monetizing your photography skill?

Olaoluwa: Sometime around last year when I started gaining visibility and people started loving my works.

Stage Voice: That's great... do you think DASAITES are part of your business growth?

Olaoluwa: Yessss and no.

I've made worthy clients from my friends who referred me to other people and the other way round, most people wants my services without paying me. Lol [laughing.]

Stage Voice: People can be funny a times..

Olaoluwa: Do you get? [Laughing]

Stage Voice: [Laughing.].... So why do you think most businesses don't stand the test of time?

Olaoluwa: Hmmn...by test of time, what do you mean exactly?

Stage Voice: Why do they run down? Or what makes them run down?

Olaoluwa: Ohh... I can say most times it's running the business with oju aye (I mean doing free stuffs for people you know). As a business owner, you need to let people know you are a different entity from your business.

The other one is the motivation for starting. If I start a business due to the fact that my friends are doing it and are successful, it kills. What works for A most tines doesn't work for B

Stage Voice: This is really insightful... So has the strike affected you personally?

Olaoluwa: Wait... which strike?Lol

Our department is not on strike now😂. Even though we partially are, our rehearsals are not on strike fa [laughing]

Stage Voice: [smiling] That's how busy this department can be. We can relate....

Olaoluwa: Yeah, exactly.

Stage Voice: What do you feel about the students' administration?

Olaoluwa: You mean in the department?

Stage Voice: Yes

Olaoluwa: Ok, I'll say it's going well and fine but the people there should have it in mind that they are representing the people at all times.

Stage Voice: Alright... so finally, what advice do you have for the Part 1 students?

Olaoluwa: Hmmn...  Just be you and put God first. The department and OAU at large can either mar or make you and your gifts and talents. The choice is with you.

Don't have too much friends and know what you are doing in school.

Stage Voice: Thank you, Olaoluwa. It's nice having you here!

Thank you once again.

Olaoluwa: It's my pleasure. Thanks for having me, too.
