CINEMA SPICES
CINEMA SPICES!!!
So this is newwww, I knowwww. Well on this section of Stage Voice we're going to be talking about movies. Cinema Standard to be precise (we don't do "Abawood* here). We will look at the Asthetics as well as the deep, hidden flaws.
So today we're going to be talking about CRUELLA!!
Cruella
hit the Cinemas on the 28th of May, 2021, produced by Disney. Set in the 1970's in London.
HOLD UP!!! SPOILER ALERT! If you hadn't
seen Cruella, you can go back now, watch it and get back to this write up!
Okayyyyyyyyyy, so
,Estella is a young and clever grifter who's determined to make a name for
herself in the fashion world. She soon meets a pair of thieves who appreciate
her appetite for mischief, and together they build a life for themselves on the
streets of London. However, when Estella befriends fashion legend Baroness von
Hellman, she embraces her wicked side to become the raucous and revenge-bent
Cruella.
There
are alot of amazingly beautiful things about this movie raging from the Mind
blowing Costume designs to the Setting, The Accents, The Language.
One
thing I really loved was Emma Stone's (Cruella) sudden switch in character. So
smooth and so natural. I tried as much as possible to get a possible flaw in
each character delivery but the girl good Ã’lohun.
And
here comes the BUT. I mean there's always a "BUT".
First:
After Cruella lights up her dress and is brought to the Baroness, her arm
switches places during her conversation. Here, she was holding her stick in one
hand but is seen holding it the other when brought to the Baronness. It's a
problem with the continuity though.
Again:
As one of her pranks, Cruella sews a beautiful dress covered in sparkly
trinkets that turn out to be moth cocoons, and when they hatch, they destroy
the dress and all the other dresses stored with it. Full-grown moths
don't eat fabric; moth caterpillars do (in the wild they eat the fur of dead
animals). These moths were explicitly past the larval stage. Eweeeeeeeee
Next:
Cruella's year of birth is shown on her birth certificate to be 1952. This
means that her adventures as a twelve year-old took place in 1964. During this
period, Cruella, Jasper, and Horace are shown running across a zebra (black and
white pedestrian) crossing. Zig-zag markings, indicating a no parking/no
overtaking area, are on the road either side of the crossing. These markings did not
come into use until 1971. Who knows! Maybe Flash time- travelled with her.
Again,
I was wondering how John knew Cruella was the Baronness's daughter, so I went
back to check for flaws buttt I saw he noticed her hair before taking her to
the Baroness at the black and white ball.
So
with this few points of mine, I hope it will be fair to rate the movie 7/10. If
you don't agree, you're welcome to comment below. BYEEEEEEE
1/10.
2/10. 3/10. 4/10.
5/10. 6/10. 7/10. 8/10. 9/10. 10/10
